got taken out for dinner tonight (yeah, there was a catch...hubby needed help picking out some new threads---so I got to make sure he didnt do pokka dots and pasley's together )

nice and ....HOT today so they (the condo asssssssociation) decided this week they should have the common area carpets cleaned, so now we have a sauna outside our door (there is NO ventilation in that common area and it got very HOT in there today)....still waiting for them to 'wash and seal' the decks....was suppppposed to have been done tax day....well, here we are one month later and still not done, go figure.

Lab went pretty well. Didn't do it with my last hour because they are honestly a bit to immature to handle it. Found out that if you have immature kids it kind of ruins the lab for everyone else. Like the first couple hours (not my classes) were moving the locations so that the next hours couldn't find them. Super frustrating. But the students did seem to enjoy it.

I had to make my own dinner. Per usual. Oh well...

Very nice out today. And yes, a bit warm. Still like 80 and it is 9pm here. Ridiculous. Air is on and working though, thank goodness!

learning to cook for yourself is probably one of the best life skills you will learn (that and how to do your own laundry ).

glad it went well....yeah, immature kids can ruin things pretty dang quickly--pretty sad that it does it for the whole class.

I can somewhat cook for myself. I just don't really have the stuff here to do it so I generally stick to easy stuff.

And they think it is funny so they don't learn that what they did isn't fair to other people. All they can think about is how funny it is that they did it. Hard to reason with them.

yes, part of why I gave up on the teaching thing---until the child brain develops, you can NOT reason with them (its not possible with their level of development), the problem comes when some have passed the age that this usually occurs yet still have not developed! (some will NEVER develop, thus screwing lots of things for others for the rest of their lives--and possibly beyond).
oy
(guess my child psych classes gave me some perspective huh).

another nice day...had some really good thunder move thru late yesterday (dont know if it rained though---was dry when I got up).

Definitely a part that is frustrating day in and day out. They lack the ability to think about how their actions will effect others. For example, today I gave a test, I had two guys who continued to talk, quietly, but loud enough to be disruptive. A girl right next to them was still taking her test. I had to tell them a couple times to be quiet before I finally moved them apart. Just rude and everything. Just one of those days I guess.

Very nice day out. A bit warm but not too bad. I'll take it over 30 degrees any day I guess.

yeah kids dont think that way (and neither do a LOT of 'grown ups'!!). You tell them once and if they dont stop you dole out the consequences, its the only way.

had pizza for dinner---one of those 'stone ground' premade crusts (got the whole grain one)...wasnt too bad either. (and a nice salad on the side...we ate good today mom and dad!), though my lunch wasnt very healthy (made crepes...though the recipe is only 1 egg, 1/4 cup of flour, 1/4+ 1T of milk...and then I had the remnants of some havarti cheese inside...so not too bad)

hey, I did laundry today too, I have clean clothes to wear again

Ya. Hard part is at the end of the year. Because everyone is ready to be done so we don't want to see the students more than we have too.

I had sloppy joes. They were my fiancees moms recipe, not my moms, so they were different but good.

never liked sloppy joes...mom used to make them all the time--just dont like over cooked beef hidden by a gross sauce (never liked the 'made right' that was popular around augie either--even more gross since they didnt hide the fact of the really over cooked beef!). I was never much of a fan of those kinds of sauces (still not much of a red sauce fan on pasta either, always liked my pasta with butter or alfredo type).

so if you told the kids no talking and they did it, I would have just moved them and been done with it since its this late in the game (they should know that talking isnt allowed no need to warn with only 1 week or so of classes left).

so got any plans for the next weeks before the really BIG DAY?? (is you soon to be all ready or a bundle of nerves?)

I grew up loving sloppy joes. Still do. My moms is awesome. Though I think we have had this conversation before.

Ya I usually move them. At that point there was a minute left in class. I did just have some students who continued to talk even though all they are doing is working on the study guide for the final and watching Finding Nemo... Moved them and am hoping that remedies the issue. If not, more get moved. Don't understand how they can't just watch quietly like every other class.

We have to go up this weekend, so starting today, to meet with the florists and the guy playing music at our wedding. She is pretty stressed with everything she has to do for it on top of trying to find a job and finishing her thesis. (In our defense, we thought she would be done with her thesis by this point...) So she is much more stressed than I am.

It's finals week. So the kids get a study guide to work on. They let students waive finals so if they are waiving, then they have nothing to do. The movie keeps them content so that they aren't disrupting those that want to be studying. Those that want to study are studying as the other students don't talk. Plus Finding Nemo does have to do with ecology and ecosystems and how you can have a negative effect on a ecosystem by removing natural organisms from it. It works.

I have been being nice and agreeing. And being productive as well. They gave me jobs that I was supposed to do in the next couple of weeks. Did 3-4 of them today. Of course they just sat there discussing that stuff for like 3-4 hours...

lol....at least you are helping (if they want to 'discuss' then that is their prerogative..at least you got the information/stuff for them to do it).

when I was in school...we sat and read a book, no movies as those might be disruptive to others in the class (nice try on the ecology angle )....and my school didnt have the resources to show movies like that (they are NOT free!)....so if you are done, sit quietly and read a book was the motto. (and if you cant be quiet--we have that thing called DETENTION).

I was very helpful. Guess I'll have to continue to be.

Sadly times have changed. The amount of kids that read books is very small... Which is very disappointing but something I can't change. Best way to get them to sit quietly is a movie and those that are working generally are not distracted by it. But I would much prefer if they just read books. Sadly, they don't...

Just checking to make sure you people in tornado land are all doing okay. I have been watching the weather channel with coverage of the Moore OK storm and it is really a sad situation there.

thanks for checking...I think Perkunas is probably the closest one to OK.

It was hot today and we got some storms last night. We are getting some more storms tonight now. Hopefully nothing to severe...

Stinking sore throat right now thanks to allergies... Stupid crap running down the back of my throat when I'm sleeping... Here is to hoping it goes away soon...
